Lloyd Hazvineyi
Assistant Professor of History
Lloyd Hazvineyi joined Rollins College in the fall of 2026 as an Assistant Professor of History.
His teaching covers several aspects of modern and contemporary African history, including the histories of clandestine Black liberation radios, human-animal relations, sport and resistance, African Cities, and African popular culture. Hazvineyi has a decade of teaching experience at institutions of higher education, including two prestigious liberal arts colleges in the United States, a global liberal arts open learning school, a major research university in South Africa, and an independent Catholic institution in Zimbabwe.
Hazvineyi’s research explores different areas of African history, including human-nature relations in Southern Africa and Black African liberation radio broadcasting. Using oral histories and private liberation archives across the continent, Hazvineyi has published two chapters in Guerrilla Radios in Southern Africa (2021). His latest project is a co-edited volume titled Radio and Decolonization in Africa.
