Caitlin Mohr, DMA
Associate Professor of Music
Caitlin Mohr’s “powerful and expressive” (Boston Musical Intelligencer) soprano and commanding stage presence make her a sought-after performer across Central Asia, Europe, and North America. Equally at home in oratorio, opera, musical theater, contemporary compositions, and art song, she has performed roles ranging from Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Schubert's Mass in G, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi to Vivaldi’s Judith Triumphans, Benton Hess’s Felice, and Rodgers & Hammerstein classics. She has been praised for her “angelic” and “sparkling soprano” (Orlando Sentinel), whether singing Mozart's Requiem in Asiago, Italy, or Leonard Bernstein’s music with the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan. Mohr is also celebrated for her innovative art song recitals, with recent programs including American Songbook: Bernstein & Copland, A Celebration of Women Composers: Ladies of Note, Courageous Voices, and Tasting Notes: Savory Songs and Stories, which pairs regional music with curated wine and cheese tastings.
Mohr’s teaching is shaped by a commitment to professional growth, diverse pedagogical approaches, and cross-cultural musical experiences. She attended the Aspen Music Festival’s Art of Singing: A Summit for Vocal Pedagogues and is certified in all three levels of Somatic Voicework™, contemporary commercial music styles. In 2023, she served on the faculty of the Varna International Music Academy in Bulgaria and Northern Italy and was invited to Texas A&M University–Commerce to lecture on the art songs and spirituals of African American women composers, lead a masterclass, and teach private lessons. She presented at the University of North Texas in a public interview on teaching in a contemporary liberal arts program. Internationally, she worked with American Voices in Turkmenistan, performing with the State Symphony Orchestra, conducting choral workshops, coaching professional singers, and collaborating with the U.S. Embassy on community outreach.
At Rollins College, Dr. Mohr teaches a wide range of voice-related courses in a liberal arts context, including Health & Wellness for the Modern Musician, Women in Music, Songs of the Soul (song literature across genres), and Singing Diction: Italian, French, and German. She also directs opera and musical theater scenes classes and productions including Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Massenet's Cendrillon, Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein (a revue), and musical theater showcases. Dr. Mohr serves as President of the Central Florida Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and is an active adjudicator for the Florida Music Teachers National Association (FMTNA), NATS, and various other national voice competitions, supporting and evaluating emerging singers.
