Professor of Psychology

Diane and Michael Maher Chair of Distinguished Teaching

I am a cognitive psychologist with broad interests in how the mind/brain takes in, stores and uses information from the world. I teach courses on a range of topics including Sensation & Perception, Brain & Language, and Neuropsychology. I led a campus-wide QEP nitiative to help Rollins students articulate the value of higher education in their lives after graduation and have taught courses on Career and Life Planning as well. My research interests include the cognitive science of learning with college students and what faculty can do to enhance it. I am active in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) interdisciplinary community. My past work focused on speech perception with projects including memory for spoken language and auditory imagery, the effects of non-linguistic information on speech perception, and individual differences in the ability to understand language.
