Campus Recreation & Intramurals
Here’s the good news: Our recreational, intramural, and club-sports offerings make it easy to stay fit without ever leaving campus. The bad news? There’s no excuse to skip leg day. With 236 sunny days a year and a picturesque lakeside location, it’s easy to hit up the Rollins Boathouse to set sail on an adventure or navigate the Winter Park Chain of Lakes on a paddleboard or kayak. If staying dry is more your thing, challenge your friends to a game of beach volleyball, head over to the Alfond Sports Center for a pickup game of hoops, or try your hand at everything from pickleball to esports through our intramural program.
Fitness Classes
The department of recreational sports offers tons of fitness classes—everything from meditation to marathon training. Get your groove on with a Zumba class or feel the burn in a boot-camp-style session. On days when the weather is just too nice to stay inside, sign up for yoga on the lawn or head to the boathouse for a sailing lesson.
Not Your Typical Classroom
Rollins offers a wide range of physical education classes centered on our lakeside location and commitment to wellness. Everyone’s favorite friend Curtis gives you a behind-the-scenes look at one of our most popular physical education classes in recent years: a scuba diving certification course. Watch as a handful of Tars learn the basics on campus, and then flex those skills on class trips to Grand Cayman and the Devil’s Den.
Club Sports
Ready to engage in a little friendly competition? Or maybe you just want to experience the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team? With dozens of club sports on deck, you’re sure to find something that makes you want to get moving. Popular club sports include basketball, soccer, running, and tennis. Our near-perpetual sunny weather means outdoor activities like wakeboarding, golf, water polo, and equestrian sports are year-round. If you prefer to stay out of the sun, our esports club is always accepting new members, and feel free to start a new club if we don’t already offer it.
Aquatic Adventures
Our lakeside location offers unprecedented access to glistening Lake Virginia. Explore the east side of campus via paddleboard or boat, both of which are available to check out through the Rollins Boathouse. Other popular water sports include wakeboarding, water skiing, kayaking, and tubing.
How to Stay Active on Campus
Curtis is back to show you all the unique ways Tars stay active. From water sports on Lake Virginia to yoga on Mills Lawn, there are tons of ways to enjoy the outdoors while getting in a workout. More of an indoor person? Curtis takes you inside the Alfond Sports Center to show off the gym.
