The IES Abroad Buenos Aires Center is located in a neighborhood known for its architecture and history. Whether you’re catching up on your homework in the Plaza San Martin, or brushing up on history at the Recoleta Cemetery, the Center is your study abroad hub.

This program offers courses through IES and through 3 partner universities (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Argentina, Universidad de Buenos Aires, and Universidad Torcuato di Tella), greatly increasing course options.
Courses are in a wide range of fields including popular options like business, communications, psychology, political science, etc.
Most students take 1 or at most 2 courses at a partner University, and 2-3 courses through IES.
- IES Abroad Spanish language course (4 or 6 credits)
- Programa de Estudios Latinoamericanos (PEL) course at Pontificia Universidad Católica
- Argentina (UCA) (3 credits each) OR a course at one of the other two Argentine Universities
- Two or three other courses chosen from:
- IES Abroad English-taught area studies courses (3 credits each)
- IES Abroad Spanish-taught area studies courses* (3 credits each - Must have a high proficiency level in Spanish)
- Courses at local universities (credits vary) in English or Spanish
There are also options for a service-learning course and an internship course (Spanish language required).
Housing & Meals
- Homestays: Students live with a family or señora in a private homestay. These residences are centrally located throughout Buenos Aires. Twelve meals are provided per week (7 breakfasts and 5 dinners), and each student will have their own room. This is a great option if you’d like to improve your language fluency and immerse yourself in the local culture. Apartments: Students live with another IES Abroad student in a centrally located, furnished apartment within easy distance of your IES Abroad Buenos Center. No meals are included, but basic kitchen facilities are available. WiFi is also available. 24/7 Security.
- Home-based internet access is not common in Argentina, and homestays may NOT have internet access. IES provides internet access at the IES office and at host universities. There are many internet cafes available throughout the city.
IES Excursions
- Luján and Local Estancia: Visit the city of Luján, with its famous cathedral that attracts pilgrims from all over the country. Enjoy the open fields of the great Buenos Aires province, then spend the afternoon at an estancia (cattle ranch).
- San Isidro: Tour San Isidro, one of Buenos Aires' most beautiful suburbs, known for its wealth and tradition. Take a guided walking tour through the main town square with its NeoGothic cathedral and handicraft fair.
- Patagonia (additional cost): Students in The Making of Patagonia course travel to the city of Bariloche in Patagonia, a region famous for its beauty in the form of deserts, steppes, mountains and grasslands. During this 4-day course-related trip, students study indigenous communities and cultures of the region.
- Tango Show (additional cost): Experience dinner and a classic tango performance in a traditional venue with authentic Argentine songs and complex choreography performed by professionals.
Activities
IES recently launched a program called Engage, which is focused on values, cultural adjustment, goals and articulation of student learning. There are a series of 4 in-person sessions for the program and they start during the orientation week (three occur earlier in the semester and one towards the end).
Gym: Students living in an apartment have access to a small gym in their building. Students can join a private gym if desired. IES also offers regular drop-in Yoga classes.

Program Fee
Rollins Approved Semester Programs are priced the same as standard Rollins CLA tuition, standard on-campus housing for a double room, and on-campus meal plan (if meals are included). Select a specific term to see full cost details.

Scholarships
Scholarships based on financial need are available to off-set costs associated with international airfare and other costs associated with study abroad. Students can apply for scholarships through the Rollins program application. Students can also apply for additional partner scholarships through IES.

Living and Working
Having a credit card while abroad is very helpful. Argentina has a low cost of living compared to the United States.
