RFLA 300: Ireland - Communication, Culture, and Conflict

Gain a new perspective on communication differences across global communities while exploring the history of religious discrimination in Northern Ireland and its current impact on the region. You’ll visit museums and monuments throughout the country to explore Irish protest art and music, and you’ll also examine the efforts of the country to become more environmentally conscious through the use of renewable energy as you bike through Belfast and visit a sustainable and regenerative farm in the Ballymoney area.

Course Requirements: Self-reflection exercises, case study, presentation, pre- and post-program learning assessments.

Estimated Program Fee: $2,720
Program Fee Includes: Tuition, housing, some meals (breakfast daily, most dinners), on-site activities, program administration, and emergency insurance.
Estimated Additional Costs: Roundtrip airfare from Orlando International Airport (MCO) $850, passport $165, personal expenses $125, some meals $308, Electronic Travel Authorization £16, federal loan fees $0, books/course materials $50, and professional licensure/certification $0.
Visa: US citizens will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
Special Notifications: Students should be prepared for daily walking (and some more strenuous hiking). Students should be prepared to complete a three-hour bike tour, including intermittent stops. Students with sensitivity to seasickness or motion sickness should be prepared.
