INT 295F: Guadeloupe - A Journey Through French Caribbean’s History and Heritage
Join us on this field study to Guadeloupe, where you'll explore the island's rich history and diverse culture. Situated at the crossroad of the Africa, the Americas, and Europe, Guadeloupe is a unique place to understand the intricate interrelationships between these cultures. This trip offers a chance to learn about Guadeloupe's colonial past, indigenous heritage, and contemporary social issues while fostering intercultural comparisons and connections with your home and/or host country. Through site visits, lectures, and immersive activities, you'll discover and cultivate an appreciation for the island's blended identity and the concept of “creolité” born from these cultural encounters.

- Course Requirements: 2 projects, daily group reflections/discussions, and post-program reflection and assessment.
- Anticipated Number of Students: 12
- Estimated Program Fee: $4,600
- Program Fee Includes: Tuition, housing, meals, program administration, on-site activities, on-site transportation, and emergency insurance.
- Estimated Additional Costs: Roundtrip airfare to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) $1,600, Passport $165, personal expenses $125, federal loan fees $0, books/course materials $0, and professional licensure/certification $0.
